Other Roles

The Council also operates in a consultation role with regard to planning, highways, city centre development and environmental issues. It supports Truro's twinning (with Morlaix in Brittany and Boppard on the Rhine) and organises Mayoral and other civic events. It represents local views in liaison with other partners in the City, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Cornwall Council, Truro Cathedral, Royal Cornwall Museum, Totally Truro and Hall For Cornwall.

We'd love to hear from you regarding any matters of local concern. Please contact us.

Truro City Council has twenty-four members. Each ward (Boscawen, Trehaverne, Tregolls and Moresk) has six members each, normally elected for a period of four years. Annually, the members elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor to serve for one year, from May to May. The Mayor chairs the Council (and with help from the Deputy Mayor) attends all committees of the Council. Members choose one or two committees of the Council on which to serve from Finance & General Purposes, Planning, and Parks. These committees send their reports to full Council where an opportunity is given to all members to pass, amend or question those decisions. As Mayor of Truro I also attend numerous engagements and civic functions on behalf of the Council.
Councillor Mrs Ros Cox – Mayor of Truro 2009/10.
