Truro Cathedral was consecrated in 1887, and completed in 1910. It was the first anglican cathedral to be built in England since the 17th century. The Architect built in the gothic style, in the fashion of the day. He used Cornish granite for the walls and Bath stone for the pillars. The nave of the medieval parish church of St Mary was, with great skill, incorporated into the Cathedral, and is now known as Saint Mary's Aisle.
